my zoo favorites are always the giraffes. long necked and a little gawky like me. this standing one is ivan, the world's tallest giraffe [in captivity i believe] standing 18' and his hooves are 10 inches around!! giraffes rarely sit, and when they do they only stay down for a bit. and they must be very careful when sitting because one wrong move to get to the ground and they are toast. they may never get up again. seriously. fascinating.
